This is My Hero, my Son Cpl. Henry J Pulcine, United States Marine, in the photo behind him, his wife Jen with oldest daughter Zoe. He was on his third deployment in Iraq, when he decided to get some coffee and went into this shop. As his eyes adjusted to the light, he noticed a photo board and low and behold there was a photo of Jen & Zoe. He immediately asked a fellow Marine to snap his picture with them, at this point he had not seen them for almost 5 months. He managed to send us a copy the day after and I am sure we all cried. The girls were at a picnic organized by the Family Readiness Officer, of the men on deployment from the 2D LAAD Battalion out of Cherry Point, North Carolina.
We have a day full of FUN...Lots of LIVE Music...get to see some great BIKES at the Biker Rodeo...COLD BEER...GREAT FOOD...Why do we work on this for 8-10 months a year? For 8 hours worth of fun? Because we support our Troops! From past experience I know, when they are on deployment they NEED things that they just can't get for themselves! It's up to all of us, to help them try to be a little comfortable when they are so far away from home and the ones they LOVE!!
We do it to show support, so that the troops know we care! We show support because we want our loved ones PROTECTED!! While the soldiers are that far away, doing the job they have been trained to do, and protecting us, it's important to show support and respect! It's important to give and help.
It's important to remember "That being Free isn't Free"
